The XS1100 first
appeared in 1979 and was Yamaha's first four-cylinder four-stroke motorcycle.
Quickly earning itself the reputation as a powerful bike, Yamaha also released
the XS1100 as a "Special" factory custom bike which offered pullback handlebars,
a stepped seat, a smaller wider rear wheel, a smaller capacity tear-drop gas
tank, fully adjustable suspension, and an altered frame.
